Tanzania is known for tea exports, but specialty coffees from this region impress with their quality and distinctive character. Lunji Estates is a family-run farm led by the Meier family, who have passionately developed their specialty coffee production over the years.

Paul Meier, who studied coffee in Germany, brought his knowledge back to the family farm. Despite challenges such as workforce shortages and limited resources, he successfully produces coffees with a remarkable flavour profile. His goal is to achieve full independence in production – a washing station and modern equipment are next in line.

Coffee bean processing steps

The washed processing method gives this coffee a clean, balanced flavour that works beautifully in espresso and moka pots. Its moderate body provides a velvety texture, while the well-balanced acidity adds freshness and brightness without overwhelming the taste.

The flavour profile evokes Assam tea, enriched by delicate fruity notes that lend sweetness and depth. This coffee is perfect for fans of classic espresso, offering clarity, elegance, and refinement in every cup.

Recommended Brewing Methods:

  • Espresso machine (portafilter)
  • Moka pot
  • Pressure espresso machine
  • Cezve (ibrik)
  • Automatic espresso machine
