Collection: Tea

Tea is one of the most popular beverages in the world. The infusion is made of leaves and buds of tea plants, as well as herbs and dried fruit. You can choose from many types, flavours and aromas. The selection of teas in our store is so wide that everyone will  find something for themselves.

  • Types of tea

    The most popular teas are black, green, white, yellow, pu-erh and oolong (oolong). In addition, this term is used to describe infusions containing herbs and dried fruit, such as rockrose, chamomile, St. John's wort, mint or raspberry, elderberry or wild rose tea. Tea is also often used to describe mixtures of fruits, herbs and flowers, which, on their own or in combination with tea leaves, can create extremely interesting flavour compositions.

  • Tea - the oldest drink in the world

    Tea has a history and tradition dating back to 2737 BC. It is considered the oldest drink in the world, and its origins are linked to the mythical Emperor Shennong, who accidentally brewed it for the first time. According to legend, tea leaves miraculously fell into a vessel of hot water, and the aroma that rose tempted the emperor. It took centuries for tea to become popular, and it was only in the 16th century that it began to spread beyond the Far East. Europeans had to wait until the 17th century for the drink, and 200 years later, following the example of the English, they fell in love with it irrevocably.

    The taste of tea depends on the conditions in which the leaves ripen and on the processes they are then subjected to. It is most often grown in Southeast Asia, where the climate is warm and there is abundant rainfall. Plantations are usually established at altitudes above 2,000 m above sea level. Tea harvesting is hard, manual work - the peak buds are picked and only two leaves below them. It takes place from a few to a dozen times a year. Then the leaves are heated, oxidized, dried or fermented. The names "black", "green", "red" or "white" come from the color of the infusion that we finally get from the brewed leaves.

  • Properties of tea

    Tea not only has exceptional taste qualities, but also has a beneficial effect on health. It is rich in antioxidants, the amount of which depends on the type of infusion. The most antioxidants are found in white and green tea, which is why they are considered the most valuable. They are credited with many health-promoting properties: they help cleanse the body, support metabolism, support the digestive system and have a calming effect. Additionally, they are a rich source of vitamins from group A, B and E.

  • How to choose the right tea? At Java Coffee we will be happy to advise you!

    When choosing tea, you should be guided by its properties and individual taste preferences. We should remember that drinking loose-leaf tea will bring our body more benefits than drinking instant tea from a bag. You should definitely also pay attention to whether:

    • the product is Fairtrade certified;
    • made from the highest quality tea leaves;
    • comes from organic farming.

    Every professional tea shop should provide this information to consumers.

    You can find them on our JAVA Coffee Roasters website in the tea tab.
