  • What are the properties of Rooibos tea?

Rooibos tea is a type of tea that is still not very popular. While almost everyone has heard of Yerba mate or Matcha, this variety unfortunately remains quite anonymous, and also has fantastic health-promoting properties. Fortunately, its popularity is gradually increasing - more and more people, especially in the West, reach for rooibos and appreciate its beneficial effects on the body and taste.

  • General information

Rooibos, also called "Readbush", is a South African plant. It grows only in a small, mountainous part of the continent, and practice has shown that the plant has not caught on in attempts to cultivate it in other parts of the world. Interestingly, only 100-200 grams of dried herb, obtained from leaves and stem tips, are usually prepared from one bush. Such an infusion is usually called tea, and in common nomenclature this is fully justified, although in practice this plant is not really related to the tea bush.

  • Rich in antioxidants

Research on this plant is still quite young, but it has already been proven that it is full of antioxidants that help fight excess free radicals. It turns out that there are even more of them than in green tea. This is very important, because too high a level of free radicals in the body significantly increases the risk of diseases of civilization, such as heart attack, stroke, atherosclerosis or coronary artery disease. Another very valuable active ingredient of this tea is aspalathin, which is not only an antioxidant, but also has the ability to lower the level and improve glucose tolerance in the blood. It has been confirmed so far that this variety of tea has few tannins, which has a positive effect on iron management in the body. Numerous studies on this shrub are still ongoing, but so far antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic properties have also been noticed. In turn, the positive effect of this infusion on lipid management suggests that drinking it is a good idea during the weight loss period, as it can support this process.

  • Rooibos tea in our offer

Rooibos tea is relatively sweet and refreshing. It has distinct woody and nutty notes. Therefore, apart from its wonderful health-promoting properties, this infusion can be appreciated for its taste alone. In our shop, we offer tea from the Suki Tea brand, which is characterized by high quality and the natural composition of its products.

  • Brewing method

Preparing this drink is relatively simple and is similar to most teas. Just pour a teaspoon of dried herb into a cup, pour freshly boiled water over it and leave for about five minutes. You can brew rooibos using a Suki Tea jug available in our store, using one measure of tea. Rooibos infusion is usually drunk warm, although you can also leave it to cool and then serve it cold with ice and lemon. A very important feature of rooibos is the lack of caffeine, which means that it does not cause a stimulating effect like coffee or black tea. You can therefore drink this tea freely in the evening, even just before going to bed, and you can also be sure that it is safe for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.
