OROMATCHA 01 – ceremonial Tsuyuhikari matcha from the first harvest
Some products simply taste good. Others show how something can taste when it is truly exceptional. OROMATCHA 01 is a ceremonial grade matcha from the first harvest, sourced from Kagoshima prefecture on the island of Kyushu – a region known for some of the finest tea cultivation in Japan. This is a single cultivar Tsuyuhikari matcha – a rare variety appreciated for its exceptional creaminess, deep umami and natural, subtle sweetness.

This is a matcha most often enjoyed without any additives – just with water – to fully experience its texture, clarity and balance.
What does this matcha taste like?
In the cup, you’ll first notice creaminess and umami – deep, yet very elegant.
There is a natural sweetness reminiscent of white chocolate and milk, along with a light freshness and a delicate floral note. Bitterness, if present at all, is very subtle and never dominates the cup. This is a very balanced matcha – full, smooth and calm in character. The kind you keep coming back to.
Why is this matcha special?
- first harvest (first flush) – made from the youngest, most nutrient-rich leaves
- single cultivar Tsuyuhikari – a rare variety mainly used by smaller, craft producers
- ceremonial grade – suitable for both usucha and koicha
- certified Japanese Organic JAS
- transported and stored in controlled low temperature to preserve freshness and vibrant green color
- high umami and low bitterness – key characteristics of premium matcha
Where does OROMATCHA come from?
This matcha comes from Kagoshima prefecture on the island of Kyushu – a region with volcanic, mineral-rich soil and an ideal climate for tea cultivation. Growing conditions have a huge impact on matcha flavour – just like terroir in wine or coffee.
Leaves are harvested only during the first harvest, when they contain the highest levels of sweetness, amino acids and umami, and then processed according to Japanese matcha production standards.
How to prepare it
Usucha (everyday matcha):
- 1–2 g matcha
- 70–80 ml water at approx. 70–75°C
- whisk with a chasen for about 15–20 seconds
Koicha (thick ceremonial matcha):
- 3–4 g matcha
- 30–40 ml water
- mix slowly until a thick, creamy consistency is achieved
This matcha is best enjoyed with water – without milk – to fully appreciate its quality.
