Meet the Teem

A lot of good things happen purely by chance. I was applying for a job in South Africa, and on the very first day, my then-boss decided to delegate me to Poland instead. Upon arriving in Warsaw in 2000, along with two friends from America, we decided to open the first Stoney Point Java café on Pańska Street. We worked from 6 AM, preparing sandwiches and roasting coffee. In 2003, we realized it was starting to work. We saw a bright future for high-quality, locally roasted coffee. We stopped running the café and focused solely on roasting coffee. This was the beginning of JAVA Coffee.

By sheer coincidence, I also met a beautiful girl during this time who agreed to spend her life with me. Today, over 20 years later, I work six days a week, because besides working in the office, on Saturdays I am at our JAVA Pop-Up at the Warsaw BioBazar, entertaining and serving guests. I am very happy to work with a wonderful team of coffee enthusiasts. Coffee has the power to attract wonderful people. What will happen next? I have no idea, but I am extremely pleased with everything that has happened so far and happens every day...

My coffee roots trace back to a well-known coffee cellar in Poznań. It was there and the coffee anarchists of that place who shaped me as a barista. I like to break conventions and encourage experimentation; to inspire and show different options. In training sessions, the most important thing for me is effectiveness, which is achieved by imparting knowledge in an accessible way in the most relaxed atmosphere possible - it's known that we learn best through fun.

Coffee is an incredibly versatile material that we absorb with all our senses. Sensory experience in coffee is like the Every Flavor Beans from the famous saga about a young wizard. The art of painting on coffee, aka Latte Art, is Art with a capital "A" and a wonderful skill that requires consistency and diligence. In alternative coffee brewing, many fields like chemistry and physics can be applied, but I am much more inclined to simplify the topic according to the well-known phrase "Coffee is not math" rather than turning it into another branch of philosophy.

Coffee is an incredibly social beverage, serving as an excuse for meetings, conducive to conversation, great ideas, and concepts. It is also an everyday comfort, wrapping us from the inside on a chilly October day.

There are people who can always sense the mood in the room and strive to motivate others, all the while sharing contacts, helping to connect project dots, suggesting great ideas and quickly accomplishing what initially seemed unattainable. That's Natalia - both in her everyday life and in leading the marketing team at JAVA Coffee Roasters.

She always wanted to be a barista. She would certainly have succeeded had it not been for business psychology and marketing, at which she excels. Her love for coffee remained and, combined with the H2H (Human to Human) approach, became the foundation of Natka's work at JAVA. Coffee is not just something to know, but something to understand, just like the people you work with and communicate with through social media and other channels.

Natka's work is based on relationships, connecting people who share a love of coffee. The community she builds is as strong as an espresso.
