About the Origin of the Beans

The Itumpi AMCOS cooperative has been operating under its current name since 1994, although its history dates back to the 1970s, when it operated as "Ujamaa." Over time, the group of 56 members has grown to 160 active growers. In 2019, the production of fully washed coffees began, significantly improving the quality of the raw material and paving the way for the specialty market. The cherries arrive at the processing plant in the afternoon, where pulping begins in the evening, followed by overnight fermentation.

Finally, the beans are sun-dried for about a week, achieving a clean and consistent profile typical of southwestern Tanzania, where altitude and a stable climate favor quality. Thanks to the work of Itumpi AMCOS, each batch is consistently refined, allowing farmers to expand their production while maintaining traditional cultivation methods.
