Specialty Coffee Kenya Gikanda Kangocho

Gikanda Kangocho is the pure essence of everything we love about coffees from Nyeri County. An explosion of fruit, juicy acidity, and a clarity you could cut with a knife. This coffee strikes a perfect balance between vibrant fruitiness and tea-like lightness, finished with a citrus twist of lime that lifts the whole cup and leaves no room for boredom.

Try Kenya in its purest form — brew Gikanda Kangocho and let yourself be drawn into the fruit-forward energy of Nyeri County.

Hand-selecting ripe coffee cherries at Kangocho Factory, Kenya

The coffee comes from Kangocho Factory, part of the Gikanda Farmers' Cooperative Society (FCS), a group of 1,322 farmers who cultivate coffee beans in the fertile, clay-loam soils at the foot of Mount Kenya. The altitude of 1,600–1,800 meters above sea level, tropical climate, and annual rainfall of 1,300–1,800 mm create ideal conditions for the SL28, SL34, and Batian varieties to mature at their natural, leisurely pace.

Water channels and grain separation during Fully Washed processing

After harvest, the beans are transported to the mill, where they undergo a meticulous Fully Washed process—a 12-hour fermentation, washing in water channels, and selecting by density. They are then dried for approximately 14 days on drying tables. Kangocho Factory also prioritizes the environment: the water used to wash the beans is reused, and ongoing investment in infrastructure and production quality translates into consistently better coffee batches—a fact that's palpable in the cup.

This is a coffee that goes down like gold in a pour-over. V60, Chemex, Kalita – choose your favorite, but if you're a fan of Kenyan coffees, you know filter coffee is a must. Gikanda Kangocho is a fruit bomb, pure as the mountain air and so juicy it leaves you wanting more.

This label looks like a still image frozen somewhere between a safari and a coffee break on the road. Two leopards perched on the roof of an SUV – one alert, the other reaching for a thermos – as if the coffee were as obvious a feature of the landscape as the savannah and the dust on the road.

This isn't a hunting scene, but a moment of suspension. A roadside stop. The sun is high, the engine is still warm, and the coffee is where it belongs: close at hand. The leopards aren't aggressive or wild in the Hollywood sense – they're calm, accustomed to the rhythm of the place. As if they know nothing will happen if you slow down for a moment.
