DR Congo Umoja Wetu (omniroast)
DK CONGO Umoja Wetu is a remarkable coffee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, blending intense fruitiness with a delicate chocolate sweetness. Its medium roast level (omniroast) makes it perfect for both filter methods and moka pots. Thanks to its washed processing, the flavour profile is clean and balanced – juicy cherry meets the subtle bitterness of Assam tea, all wrapped in a silky layer of milk chocolate.

In the cup, Umoja is balanced and smooth. The washed process highlights its clarity and juicy cherry notes. Sweet milk chocolate and pleasantly tart Assam tea round out the dominant fruitiness.
About the Farm & Process
The history of coffee in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been turbulent. In the 1980s, the country exported over 120,000 tons of excellent coffee each year. By the end of the century, following prolonged conflict, coffee exports dropped dramatically to under 10,000 tons annually. In the 21st century, conditions have started to improve, with new cooperatives and initiatives rebuilding the country’s economy—including its coffee sector.

Farmers in DR Congo form cooperatives to handle processing and exports and promote ongoing education to improve coffee quality and environmental awareness.
UMOJA WETU Cooperative – meaning "Our Unity" – unites small producers and supports local communities in South Kivu. Established in 2010, the cooperative began focusing on specialty coffee in 2017 and has since continued to grow in this sector.
Lake Kivu sits atop a plateau, offering high-altitude conditions ideal for growing Arabica coffee in the region.
