Sencha – Japanese classic in a cup
Sencha is a true icon of Japanese tea culture – most often chosen by the inhabitants of the Land of the Rising Sun and the most recognizable green tea in the world. Its taste is a harmonious combination of freshness, subtle sweetness and delicate grassy-buttery notes. The infusion delights with its light, golden-green color, which immediately evokes associations with nature.
The name "sencha" (煎茶) literally means "tea brewed on fire" – and this is where its magic lies. Brewed with soft water with a neutral pH, it reveals the fullness of taste and aroma.
How is Sencha made?
Moya Sencha no. 21 comes from organic farming on the Japanese island of Kyushu – a region famous for its clean air, fertile soil and ideal conditions for growing green tea. It is there, on small family plantations, that sencha of exceptional quality and taste is created.
How to brew Sencha tea?
To get the best out of Sencha, it is worth taking care of the right proportions and water temperature. Here is a short instruction:
- 2-3 g per 200 ml of water
- 70-80°C (not boiling water!)
- approx. 2 minutes
- up to 3 times - each subsequent one surprises with new notes.
Gentle brewing allows you to maintain a balance between sweetness and freshness and avoid bitterness.
Sencha Properties – Japanese Power in a Cup
Sencha is an excellent choice for a good start to the day - it contains natural caffeine, which stimulates and supports metabolism, especially since it comes from young, spring leaves. It is one of the richest natural sources of catechins - strong antioxidants that protect cells from oxidative stress.
Regularly drinking sencha can support the body on many levels:
- it slows down the aging process, supports detoxification,
- helps maintain normal cholesterol and blood sugar levels,
- has a beneficial effect on gums and teeth, and - importantly - improves mood.
Sencha leaves are rich in easily digestible vitamin C, beta-carotene, folic acid, potassium, calcium and phosphorus - all in a light, golden cup.
