Specialty Coffee Ethiopia Gatta [March Coffee of the Month]

Spring routes have their rituals. A short stop, helmet still on, the engine cooling down, coffee steaming in a cup. A moment where there’s no need to rush — just breathe. Ethiopia Gatta, our March Coffee of the Month, is a transitional offering — balancing winter structure with spring freshness. Technically refined, yet exceptionally easy to enjoy every day. The beans come from Shantawene in the Sidama region — one of Ethiopia’s most respected and quality-driven coffee-growing areas. This location benefits from a unique microclimate: sunny and humid, with lush vegetation and natural shade that slows cherry maturation and helps build a complex, layered flavour profile.

Brew a moment of calm and let Ethiopia Gatta tell its story in your cup.

The moment of harvest where the story of Ethiopia Gatta begins

Gatta Farm, founded by Mulugeta Dukamo, one of the region's key quality producers, is responsible for this flight. The farm was established on a former forest site discovered during the construction of the Gafisse station. The first coffee bushes were planted in 2013, and the on-site drying station began operating in 2017. To this day, the farm is surrounded by a forest of trees over a century old, which serve as a natural canopy for both the crops and the drying tables.

The coffee is grown at an altitude of 2120–2210 meters above sea level, which, combined with the 74158 variety, produces a very high concentration of aroma and a distinct yet clean acidity. The raw material comes from both the company's own farm (32 hectares) and from approximately 940 local farmers who supply the fruit to Gatta Farm & Lodge, which has been operating since 2008. The entire process uses African drying beds and controlled fermentation tanks, and organic waste is composted and reused.

Ethiopia Gatta honey-processed is a clean, precise, and highly drinkable coffee with a distinct Ethiopian character and a well-preserved natural sweetness.

Juicy lime dominates the flavor, imparting freshness and lightness. It is accompanied by black tea – elegant and structured, building a clear structure. Acacia honey and mirabelle plum complete the overall flavor, bringing a soft, natural sweetness and a delicately fruity finish.

The pour-over coffee is light, tea-like, and citrusy, with a very clean finish. The espresso reveals a greater sweetness, a fuller body, and a honey-fruity character.

This is a coffee that transcends the seasons – between winter structure and spring freshness. Technically refined, yet perfect for everyday use.
