What is speciality coffee?

Speciality coffee is a product made from the highest quality beans grown under specific conditions. These beans are free from any defects and must score at least 80 points on a 100-point quality scale. This is the formal definition of speciality coffee, which represents only about 4% of all coffees available on the market. Our JAVA Coffee Roastery specializes in selling this type of high-quality beans. If you'd like to learn more about our mission and the products we offer, contact us!

Choosing the right beans

Not everyone who enjoys the taste of good, freshly ground, and carefully brewed coffee knows what the term "speciality" means or what it takes to produce such beans. So, what should you know about their production? The most important aspect of speciality coffee is the care for quality throughout the entire process, from cultivation, harvesting, transport, and storage, to roasting. In our roastery, we source coffee beans only from trusted distributors with plantations in places like Guatemala, Brazil, India, Colombia, and New Guinea. These farms are organic, aided by their high altitude (usually over 1200 meters above sea level). Coffee cherries are harvested by hand, allowing for the elimination of unripe or imperfect fruits right at the start. This is the initial selection, after which the beans undergo several other quality tests, including a blind test, where only defect-free beans pass. Another requirement for producing the highest quality coffee is the precise roasting process and delivering the beans to the customer as quickly as possible after roasting. In our roastery, this means a maximum of 4 days, ensuring the coffee retains its maximum freshness.

Why try the best speciality coffee?

The best speciality coffee allows for the brewing of a drink that, once tasted, most enthusiasts will not want to return to drinking "regular" coffee. This is justified not only by the superior organoleptic qualities of high-quality coffee but also by a certain level of consumer awareness. Someone who has learned about the qualities of the best coffee and understands the process behind its production knows that it is worth the price. When buying such coffee, the customer knows they are getting the best product available, and the price they pay is an investment in the continued development of small farms that ensure the coffee beans retain their natural flavor, aroma, and full health benefits.

Known origin

When you buy coffee from the supermarket, you don't know its origin, harvest date, or roast level. You can't predict how it will taste after brewing. Meanwhile, the origin and processing method of the coffee available in our store are clearly detailed for every customer. We specify these details and explain what they mean in terms of growing conditions and roasting methods. Based on this information, we can predict exactly how the coffee will taste from a particular type of bean. You'll find beans with sensory profiles such as chocolate, floral, nutty, or fruity in our store. You can order a subscription to the type of coffee that suits your taste or opt for a more varied option with our coffee subscription in the "coffee of the month" variant, where you'll test new types of beans with us every 4 weeks.

Flawless taste

Do you always drink your coffee with milk, sugar, or other additives? If you don't enjoy the natural taste of coffee, you should definitely try brewing a drink from the highest quality beans. The coffee has a clean, often subtly sweet taste, revealing the true nature of a brew made from coffee cherries. If you can't imagine your morning without a cup of coffee, you must try speciality coffee at least once in your life.
