How Can You Help by Buying Specialty Coffee from JAVA Coffee?
From December 22, 2023, to January 4, 2024, for every pack of 250g specialty coffee purchased from our online store JAVA Coffee, we will donate 5 PLN to the Smile Warsaw Foundation. The funds will be used to purchase warm woolen socks for the homeless in Warsaw. If you'd like to join us in this effort, plan to restock your coffee supplies during this period. Together, we can make a significant impact.
Smile Warsaw Organization
Smile Warsaw is a charitable organization founded over 6 years ago by a small group of expatriates who wanted to give back to the community that welcomed them and provided a dignified life. Today, volunteers from Poland also contribute to their efforts.
Smile Warsaw emerged as a branch of the previously active Warsaw SEVA Association. For 6 years, volunteers have met weekly at 13:30 in front of the Palace of Culture and Science on the side of the Kinoteka and Aleje Jerozolimskie, offering hot meals to anyone in need. Caleigh Furlong, the association's president, personally greets each person seeking assistance. Smile Warsaw operates regardless of the weather—snow, rain, or frost do not deter them from their mission to help.
How Does Smile Warsaw Operate?
Smile Warsaw collaborates with Indian Taste Restaurant in Powiśle and Legends Bar and Grill, allowing them to provide hot drinks and meals to approximately 150 people each week. Weather permitting, volunteers also offer haircuts and occasionally distribute clothing donated to the foundation.
The organization is partially funded by private donations and financial support from volunteers and sponsors who change from time to time. They are supported by a dedicated group of volunteers from the American School in Warsaw, the British School, the City Church of Warsaw, and other businesses, organizations, and individuals who simply want to help those less fortunate. They offer every person in need a warm meal, conversation, and smiles. Everyone is warmly welcomed.
