Dark Roasted Coffee for Espresso
-
Good coffee for an espresso machine is characterized by a rich flavor and aroma. Espresso is not just the name of the drink, but also the method of preparation using a dedicated espresso machine. This coffee is often associated with a very intense, bitter taste, leading many to believe that it contains a high amount of caffeine. However, this is a common misconception. The strong and bitter flavor results from dark roasting of the beans, and it doesn’t reflect the "strength" of the brew (in terms of caffeine content). In fact, the darker the roast and the shorter the brewing time, the less caffeine the coffee contains. Therefore, espresso actually has significantly less caffeine compared to drip coffee made from light roasts.

The beans you’ll find in our store will allow you to prepare a unique coffee that delights with its flavor with every sip. We source our beans for the perfect espresso exclusively from trusted producers, including from Tanzania, Honduras, Papua New Guinea, Brazil, Costa Rica, Rwanda, and Guatemala. The sensory profiles of our espresso beans are balanced and diverse, so that every coffee enthusiast will find something for themselves: in some packages, you'll detect fruity notes, in others, nutty flavors. There are also coffees with the aroma of marzipan, chocolate with caramel undertones, or with a pleasant tea-like aftertaste. The beans are roasted on demand, according to incoming orders, so you can be sure that the ones you receive are freshly roasted.

The best coffee for coffee machine
To prepare aromatic coffee in an espresso machine, specially roasted and properly ground beans are necessary. It is important to avoid lightly roasted beans when choosing coffee, as they are dedicated to pour-over methods. You should pay attention to the degree of grinding of the beans, as this is one of the key factors influencing the quality of the resulting drink. The best coffee for espresso is 100% Arabica, because its taste is very complex and rich, and at the same time definitely milder than the less noble, bitter Robusta. The flavor notes of Arabica are clearly sweeter than Robusta. The sensory profiles of Arabica vary depending on the place where it is grown, thanks to which each subsequent coffee can surprise you anew with a new interesting taste and aroma. Arabica beans from different regions and plantations can be used to create blends of selected coffees and combine them in unique flavor compositions. The secret of espresso aroma lies in the location of cultivation, the coffee variety, the processing method and the craftsmanship of roasting the beans, but also in the degree of grinding and the quality of water used for brewing – all of this is worth remembering when preparing and tasting the drink.

How to make the perfect espresso?
There is no single, strictly defined recipe for the perfect espresso, as the beans vary depending on their species and origin. The starting point for a perfectly brewed coffee will undoubtedly be the best-quality beans. It's also important to consider the type of coffee grinder and the brewing equipment – whether it’s a pressure espresso machine, an automatic espresso machine, a moka pot, or another coffee maker.
Typically, a classic espresso is prepared using a pressure espresso machine at a pressure of around 8.5-9.5 bars, with water at a temperature of approximately 88-92 degrees Celsius. It's essential that the coffee grounds, through which the water is passed, are evenly and finely ground and packed evenly. The espresso brewing process using a pressure espresso machine is called extraction and usually lasts about 25 seconds.
