View of a farm in the Marcala region of Honduras

The coffee comes from the Marcala region in the La Paz department of southwestern Honduras, near the Montecillos Nature Reserve. This mountainous area is known for its clay-rich soils, mild climate, and long-standing coffee-growing traditions. Marcala was the first region in Honduras to receive the protected designation of origin Café de Marcala, a recognition that reflects the exceptional quality and reputation of the coffees produced there.

The beans come from smallholder farmers cultivating coffee at an altitude of around 1,500 meters above sea level. The Ihcafe 90 and Catuai varieties often mature under the shade of banana trees, which slows the ripening process and allows for greater flavor concentration in the cherries. Thanks to careful cultivation and a classic washed process, the coffee retains its natural sweetness, clean profile, and excellent balance.

Honduras Marcala offers a classic and exceptionally approachable cup profile, led by notes of brown sugar sweetness and dark chocolate. As the coffee cools, it becomes even smoother and creamier, revealing subtle hints of dried fruit.

Built around balance and clarity, this coffee features a gentle, well-integrated acidity that keeps the cup harmonious, sweet, and easy to enjoy. The traditional washed process highlights the coffee’s clean character and natural sweetness, allowing the origin to shine through. It's an excellent choice for those who appreciate everyday specialty coffees with a chocolate-forward profile, pronounced sweetness, and a refined balance between aroma and body.
