Whole Bean Coffee
Whole bean coffee is considered more aromatic, intense, and complex in flavor than pre-ground beans. However, it’s not enough to simply pick any coffee off the shelf to ensure you're getting the best quality product. Beyond the form, factors like the origin of the beans and their roast level are also important. So, what should you consider when choosing this type of coffee?

Why is freshly roasted whole bean coffee considered the best?
Freshly roasted whole bean coffee retains its freshness much longer than pre-ground coffee. If the coffee is packed in a sealed bag right after roasting, it can maintain its full range of aromas and complex flavors until the package is opened and the beans are ground just before brewing. This way, the flavors and aromas locked in the beans are only released right before consumption, making the beverage more aromatic. Its taste will also be more intense and interesting—more complex. At JAVA Coffee, you can find only 100% Arabica coffee, which is roasted no more than 7 days before being shipped to the customer. This is undoubtedly an added advantage. Advantages
Coffee available in the form of whole beans has many advantages, and they are not limited to its freshness but also its richness of flavor. By choosing this variant, after opening the package, you can experience not only the full aroma of the purchased product but also its appearance. When inspecting roasted coffee beans, pay attention to their color and shape. This will help you determine the quality of the product. High-quality beans will not have a shiny, oily appearance. Instead, they will be free of any defects and, importantly, whole, not broken. Since we only use Arabica beans for our coffee, you can expect each bean to be slightly flattened and elongated, with an S-shaped groove. Robusta, which is easier to cultivate, is smaller and rounder, making it easy to distinguish from Arabica beans. As for roasting, at JAVA Coffee, we offer light, medium, and dark roasts.
How to choose the best 100% Arabica specialty coffee beans?
To choose the best coffee beans, opt for specialty coffee, which is 100% Arabica with the right parameters. At JAVA Coffee, we use only this type of bean. It is a product of the highest quality, representing only 4% of all coffee harvests. For coffee to be classified as specialty, the beans must score at least 80 out of 100 in tests conducted by professional Q-graders. Coffee plants are grown on small plantations located in high-altitude regions. This allows for the avoidance of excessive chemical pesticides in cultivation, and since the work on plantations must be done traditionally, hand-picking allows for the selection of only ripe and fully healthy fruits. These beans are then further inspected for defects before being processed. Our coffees are sourced from places like Guatemala, Honduras, Ethiopia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, and India. The samples we receive are roasted in various ways, testing different roast levels until the best result is achieved. With coffee, even a few seconds of heat treatment can affect the final outcome, so although we’ve been in the market for 23 years, we measure our experience by the number of roasters used.
Diverse Sensory Profiles
Roasting coffee aims to release its flavor and aroma. Most of these qualities are released within about three days after roasting. During this time, the coffee undergoes “aeration,” which enhances its flavor. Proper roasting brings out the coffee’s sensory profile, such as chocolatey, sweet, nutty, floral, or fruity notes. To ensure that our customers enjoy the intense, complex flavor and aroma of our coffees, we pack them in hermetically sealed bags and deliver them no later than 7 days after roasting. This way, you can be sure that you’re getting the best coffee available on the market.
P Above, we’ve explained why the best coffee on the market is from the specialty segment. However, the cultivation location or Q-grader ratings may not say much about the actual flavor to someone who simply enjoys drinking a tasty and aromatic high-quality brew. It’s worth mentioning that beans from this segment are characterized primarily by a complex flavor and lack of bitterness. Whole bean coffee is the best choice for those who can grind their coffee just before brewing. Check out the products we offer, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact our specialists!
