Group Barista Basic Training – knowledge, taste, practice

This won't be a training where you just nod along. It will be the moment coffee stops being just "black and strong" and becomes something you actually understand.

In a small group (max. 6 people) we'll take you through the world of aromas, bean origins, and practical brewing guidance. You don't need to be a professional. You don't even need to know how to steam milk. But if you love coffee and want to make it with intention – this training is for you.

What's included in the training?

  • Learn where coffee comes from, how it grows, and what sets different varieties apart
  • Understand the difference between a blend and a single origin
  • Discover what specialty coffee really means – and how flavors are shaped at the farm level
  • Walk through every stage of coffee processing – from natural to washed
  • Learn to read a specialty bag like a barista: sensory profile, variety, growing altitude
  • Find out how to store coffee properly so it holds its aroma
  • Compare SCA and INEA espresso standards
  • Run a sensory analysis of espresso across different extraction levels
  • Learn to dial in your grinder properly – not just by feel
  • Get the fundamentals of milk steaming and latte art
  • Explore the differences between classic milk-based drinks
  • Learn how to maintain your equipment so it performs consistently.

Language note: this group training is conducted in Polish. For an English-language session, please book the individual training or contact us directly.

Group format – more accessible than individual sessions, with the same depth of knowledge and attention.

JAVA Coffee Roasters barista team gathered around a cup of coffee with latte art in a yellow cup – a symbol of collaboration, passion, and artisan coffee craft.
  • Group format – more accessible than individual sessions, with the same depth of knowledge and attention
  • Small group = more hands-on practice and individual guidance
  • Location: JAVA Coffee Roasters, ul. Palisadowa 20/22, Warsaw.

The coffee will be fresh, the space will smell exactly as it should, and the atmosphere will be just right – welcoming and pressure-free - unless it's in the portafilter ;)

Java University Training

  • Diploma of training completion,
  • 250g dark roast coffee.

How to prepare for the training?

  • Take a good breakfast – it will help you absorb knowledge more effectively
  • Manage your caffeine level – you know best whether coffee before the training is a good idea for you
  • Get a good night’s sleep and come with an open mind – a solid dose of knowledge awaits you!
  • Avoid strong perfumes – they may interfere with sensory analysis
  • Dress comfortably – comfort is key.

A few words from Michał, JAVA University Trainer

“I’ve been working with coffee for 9 years. I enjoy breaking conventions and encouraging experimentation — inspiring others and showing different possibilities.

During trainings, what matters most to me is effectiveness, created by sharing knowledge in an accessible way and in the most relaxed atmosphere possible — because we learn best when we’re having fun.”
