Specialty Coffee Rwanda Isaro

Our latest pour-over proposal - RWANDA Isaro, is a coffee with an extremely complex taste, aromatic, and thanks to natural processing, pleasantly thick on the palate. You will find in it notes of juicy berries and blackberries and a distinct aroma of bergamot, balanced with the aftertaste of black tea and enveloping with the sweetness of milk chocolate. A nicely balanced, sweet and expressive coffee. It will work great brewed over ice, in the cold brew version, but also as a classic hot pour-over. Check it out!

Currently, the quality of green beans (mainly Arabica - Bourbon variety) from Rwanda is valued worldwide, and its production is the basis for the country's economic growth. Despite everything, agricultural production is unfortunately not enough to cover the basic needs of the population (it is still the most densely populated country in Africa), and imports still exceed exports. The situation in Rwanda is also difficult due to the desertification process that affected the country after the civil war in 1994, as well as the high population density, which overexploits the fields and the random felling of trees by displaced people.

Nova Coffee Farm Worker

Today, the country remains one of the poorest in the world. Fortunately, thanks to a 10-year program aimed at improving the situation in Rwanda, it is now becoming one of the main producers of coffee. The exceptional quality of Rwandan beans is sold all over the world and is supplied, among others, by Starbucks. Currently, the coffee sector provides work to 400,000 families of small farmers, who together take care of about 70 million coffee trees, which translates into the production of about 27,000 tons of coffee per year.

Farm owner Agnes Mukamushinja

Rwandan plantations are very small, with an average of around 200 coffee trees per farm. Rwandan farmers are experts in Arabica but lack agronomic expertise, particularly in fertilization practices; and a large percentage of the plants are old trees with low productivity.
