RWANDA Nova Café, or Red Bourbon arabica, comes from small producers in Gicumbi in northern Rwanda and has undergone washing processing. How does it taste? It's a coffee with a subtle, light body, a distinct sweetness of dried cranberry, complemented by juicy notes of pomelo and Assam tea. These aromas give it an elegant profile and perfectly balance the flavor.

Farm and Process Information

Nova Café is located at an altitude of 1,482 m a.s.l. in the Gicumbi district of northern Rwanda. It was established in 2005 as a small washing station for this cooperative. Initially, it was part of the COOGIPROCA cooperative, but after its bankruptcy in 2013, Nova purchased the business, carried out extensive renovations, and began processing coffee on a larger scale.

The high altitude and mineral-rich volcanic soils in this region provide ideal conditions for growing coffee trees and enable the production of the highest quality coffee.

Nova Café is a company where women play a key role. Its owner is Agnes Mukamushinja, who runs the farm with her husband, Felix Hitayezu. In addition to perfecting the quality of their product, the couple focuses on building ethical and sustainable coffee farming practices within their community. Thanks to Nova Coffee, work and livelihood are secured for as many as 2,880 small coffee producers, including almost 400 women. The owners ensure the best possible living conditions not only for their workers but also for their families.
