Specialty coffee beans

Specialty whole-bean coffee is a product that, when brewed, can offer a variety of flavors—delicate, subtly sweet, and even with fruity notes. Such a brew lacks the bitterness you'd want to mask with sugar or milk. There’s a reason why specialty-grade coffee is considered the best quality coffee. Not only does it provide a boost of energy, but it also delivers undeniable pleasure in taste. So, what sets a specialty coffee product apart from what’s available in an average supermarket?

What makes specialty whole-bean coffee unique?

Specialty whole-bean coffee features high-quality beans, and it’s worth paying a bit more for this quality compared to standard coffee. So, is this product from the specialty segment worth the extra cost? This can be attributed to several factors, primarily the origin of the beans, the careful selection process of the beans, and the professional roasting methods that follow. If you’d like to learn more about our products, get in touch with us! We offer not only high-quality beans but also brewing accessories, such as filters, grinders, or moka pots.

Characteristics

Specialty coffee makes up only a small percentage of all coffee beans available on the market. This is because such a product must meet very strict criteria. Among these are a high score from Q-graders, who are certified coffee experts, as well as an absence of defects or unripe beans in the samples. The score must be at least 80/100. Specialty coffee is always Arabica. The beans in our store come from regions like Ethiopia, Brazil, India, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Importantly, the origin of such beans is always known and transparent to the customer. Our beans come from trusted suppliers and small, eco-friendly farms located in mountainous regions at altitudes ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 meters above sea level. Why is coffee grown at high altitudes considered the most valuable? Because in high-altitude climates, plantations can thrive without the use of chemical pesticides. However, this method of cultivation is very demanding, labor-intensive, and thus more expensive, as it requires the use of traditional hand methods. This is why it’s worth paying more for better-quality coffee. Supporting this kind of farming helps farmers who work hard to provide truly clean, carefully selected beans.

Why should you try specialty whole-bean coffee?

By now, you know that specialty whole-bean coffee is truly unique. Its uniqueness comes from its very high quality—not only regarding the origin of the beans but also how they are processed. While lower-quality beans are often heavily roasted to hide their lackluster flavors, specialty coffee beans are typically lightly or medium roasted. We recommend light roasts for drips and medium roasts for espresso machines. We also encourage you to try our coffee with plant-based drinks or Bacanha organic syrups. If you prefer milder brews, explore our extensive selection of teas.

Flavor profile of specialty coffee

As we’ve mentioned, store-bought coffee usually has the same bitter taste, regardless of the type, brand, or price. Drinking such coffee, you’re likely to taste nothing but bitterness, and that unpleasant aftertaste stays in your mouth long after finishing the cup. However, a brew made from specialty coffee beans allows you to discover the true taste of coffee cherries. The word "fruit" is key here because many don’t realize that coffee grows as cherries before being processed into the roasted beans we know. So, it’s natural for the brew to be slightly acidic but never bitter. Specialty coffee is distinguished by the diversity of its flavors and aromas, which can range from floral, chocolate, fruity, to nutty. We’ve categorized each of these sensory profiles separately in our store, so you can order the type of coffee you’re sure to enjoy.
